  • A family of nematocerous dipterous insects, based on the genus Rhyphus, allied to the fungus-gnats of the family Mycetophilidæ, but differing from them and from all other nematocerous flies by their peculiar wing-venation, the second longitudinal vein having a sigmoid curve. Only the typical genus is known. They are called false crane-flies.
