• noun A measure, consisting of a ring of fixed size, used for measuring spherical objects, and also for the separating or classifying of objects of irregular form.
• noun A piece of wood, ivory, or the like, generally conical in form, but usually having minute steps or offsets: it is used for measuring fingerrings, a number being affixed to every offset.
