  • Mail that has flown in a rocket, even if only for a short distance. The first experiments with rocket mail were conducted in 1928 in Austria by Friedrich Schmiedl. Special labels, cachets, or cancels usually note that mail was carried on a rocket. Many covers also have special labels affixed for the occasion.
