There are at least four bird species endemic to the Bahamas islands which may utilize mangrove habitats at times including the Bahama woodstar (Calliphlox eveltnae), white-cheeked pintail (Anas bahamensis), Bahamas swallow (Tachycinetacyaneoviridis) and Bahama yellowthroat (Geothlypis rostrata); although none of them specifically live in mangrove habitat exclusively.

There are also ancient relict species such as the Yunnan yew Taxus yunannensis, Taiwania flousiana, Magnolia rostrata, Nouelia insignis and Kingdonia uniflora among many others.

Some areas of prairie occur, with dominant grass species being Calamagrostis canadensis, Deschampsia caespitosa, Poa spp. and Carex spp., and the Peace-Athabasca Delta has flats with marshes of cat-tail Typha latifolia and sedges Carex rostrata, C. atheroides and C. aquatilis.

This area has communities of shrubs such as Skytnathus acutus, Encelia canescens, Frankenia chilensis, and Nolana rostrata.
