  • noun The generic name given by Presl, in 1838, to an aquatic fossil plant probably belonging to the rhizocarps, and closely allied to the somewhat widely distributed and in Australia specifically important genus Marsilea. It is found in the Upper Trias, Rhætic, and Lias of various parts of Europe and in America.
