  • An order of dicotyledonous archichlamydeous (mostly apotalous) plants, characterized chiefly by diœcious or hermaphrodite flowers with the ovary inferior and one-celled. It embraces seven families, of which the most important are the Santalaceæ, Loranthacese, Balanophoraceæ, and Olacaceæ.
