One possibility predicted by M-theory is supersymmetry, an idea that says fundamental particles have heavy - and as yet undiscovered - twins, with curious names such as selectrons and squarks.
Now there are squarks as well as quarks, selectrons, photinos, sleptons (the ones that are all crinkled), and even winos (probably these are the ones that follow an indeterminate wandering path through the detectors).
