Thats all I can think of and may be it. jarrod -- right on. pay lohse over market (albeit less than sliva), economy turns bad (though well on its way when lohse signed), and not being able to trade an arb eligible outfielder, and lo and behold, here we are. now i think they are probably strapped for cash and any significant signing removes all flexibility. my personal choice is bring springer back to close as often as he is able and work the young guys in around him. rotation help is likely to be who ever is left over when spring training begins (e.g., garland). the glut of outfielders available makes it tough to get anything great from ank et al.
