Definitions

from The Century Dictionary.

  • noun A trade-name for spirits of turpentine made by distilling with water the refuse wood of the long-leafed pine in the southern United States. In an imperfectly refined state it has been regarded as different from ordinary spirits of turpentine, obtained by distillation of the oleoresinous exudation from the tree, but when properly purified it is the same material.
