  • noun A silicate in which, if it is viewed as a compound of silica with one or more basic oxids, the oxygen of the latter exceeds in amount that of the former, as silicious calamin (Zn2H2SiO5 or 2ZnO.H2O.SiO2), in which the oxygen ratio for SiO2.2ZnO + HO2 is 2:3.
