- Scales designed to be suspended from a traveling crane and used in weighing the load on the crane. They are very strong and massive and adapted to lifting and, at the same time weighing, heavy castings, machines, anchors, beams, and other parts of steel ships or buildings. They range in capacity from 500 to 40,000 pounds.
