  • noun In anc. hist., either a Phenician dwelling in Syria, or a person of mixed Syrian and Phenician descent, or an inhabitant of Syro-Phenicia, a Roman province which included Phenicia and the territories of Damascus and Palmyra. [Syro-Phenicia had also, apparently, a more restricted meaning.]
