- noun A crystalline polymerization-product of salicylic acid,(C7H4O2)4, made by heating its solution in toluene with phosphorus oxychlorid. Concentrated alkali slowly changes it into salicylic aeid. It melts at 260–261° C. Also called
salicylide .
