  • A family of perforate madreporarian corals having simple or composite, basally expanded or massive colonies, the individual corallites of which have numerous septa composed of trabeculæ arranged in fan-shaped or vertical rows. The family comprises several genera, abundantly represented in Mesozoic rocks and less common in Tertiary and recent formations.
