So we cobbled together a PC, with an old network card (it only supported coax-cable "thinnet" not cat5, so we had a converter) and Caldera.
They flew down into a thinnet, which was of course a thinned thicket.
I have an thinnet switch that seems to work (never tested the BNC connection but the ethernet connectors works just fine).
A large hospital can easily have over 200 of these unconnected systems installed on Cat 5 twisted pair, thinnet (10Base-T) and even thicknet (10Base5) coax cable.
