  • n. A genus of small hemipterous insects which injure trees by sucking the sap from the leaves. See Illustration in Appendix.

A genus of heteropterous insects, typical of and formerly coextensive with the family Tingitidæ, now restricted to forms which have the costal area biseriate, the legs and antennæ not very slender, and the first antennal joint scarcely longer than the second. There are only 8 species, of which 3 are North American.
  • n. An insect of this genus, or some other member of the Tingitidæ : as, the hawthorn -tingis, Corythuca arcuata.
