  • noun In botany, the special cell or chain of cells in certain algæ which bears the trichogyne. See Florideæ.
  • noun In zoology, a process of the integument of certain annelids, as Polychæta, within which are developed the peculiar chitinous setæ of the parapodia, and which incloses the bases of the pencil-like bundles of setæ (whence the name). See cut under pygidium.
