  • noun The trade-name of the sodium salt of fluorescein or methylfluorescein, the solution of which in water exhibits a magnificent yellowish-green fluorescence like that of uranium glass. The name is also applied to the sodium salt of benzylfluorescein, used as a dyestuff, which is also known as chrysolin.
