- n. Plural form of vanner.
Sorry, no etymologies found.
Gypsy cobs, known more often in the Unites States as "vanners," are a scaled-down form of draft horses that have been used to draw Gypsy caravans, or wagons, across Europe for centuries.
The crushed quartz is carried over these copper "tables," as they are termed, thence over the blanket tables -- that is, inclined planes covered with coarse serge, blankets, or other flocculent material -- so that the heavy particles may be caught in the hairs, or is passed over vanners or concentrating machines.
Some vanners calcine their samples before commencing to van.
But different vanners, all good men, will get different results working on material new to them.
