Book now. last night was the maori cultural evening, we were picked up about 7.30 just after it had started tipping it down and driven to waitangi about 10 minutes away, now as i said earlier waitangi has a lot of significance because it was where the treaty between the maori and the europeans was signed. three of our party volunteered as chiefs for the night and had to undergo a traditional maori challenge where someone in maori costume with a weapon essentially acts very warlike before dropping some leaves and retreating to see the reaction - its basically a display of skill and controlled aggression.
