  • noun A gas or gasolene heater for supplying hot water to a bath, lavatory, or kitchen boiler. It consists of a system of pipes or vessels, through which a stream or film of water may pass and be exposed to a large heating surface, and one or more Bunsen gas-burners, the whole being inclosed in a suitable casing and connected with a supply of water and gas.
  • noun A heating-apparatus which performs its functions by the agency of hot water.
