- noun In organic chemistry, any one of the three isomeric bivalent radicals, (CH3)2C6H2⟨ [CH3;CH3 = 1,2; 1,3; or 1,4.] The term is homologous with phenylene and the derivatives of both radicals resemble each other in general properties.
