About
This list of words is an attempt to find words and expressions in English that can express how and what we convey in Spanish in certain situations in our own culture. They are not considered slang, rather more expressions that we use in our own context and we want to know how they are expressed in English.

In Perú, we usually chip in when it comes to contributing to buying more drinks or food so a party can go on. In Spanish we say "hacer una chancha or chanchita". That means we collect money from the guests at the party. It is up to the guest how much s/he can contribute. Not contributing is seen as something negative and you could build yourself a bad reputation if you are known as a non-contributing person. This applies more to men than to women. Women expect to be invited food and drinks.
