  • As a wordsmith, I just made it up one day not consciously knowing about its use way back in 1878. I simply joined the "may" in "may-be" to the "haps" in "per-haps", coming up with "mayhaps" ... thinking it sounded neat and light.

  • A compound word made up by one of our three sons ... using the "be" from ... be-sides and the "sept" sound in "ex-cept" ... it just seemed to fit the occasion at the time. Usually used by our family now in conjunction with the word "that" ... as in besept that ...

  • A compound word made up by two of our three sons ... using the "pre" from ... pre-cisely and the "sact" sound in "exact" ... it just seemed to fit the occasion at the time. Could also be used as in "presactly".
