  • This is what happens to your internet forum post when it gets made into a "sticky" (a message that is placed near the top of the list of messages, and never gets shuffled down the list). Example: "I was pleased to learn that my post on my favorite subject was stickytized today."

  • EEKO-NOMIC Just made this pronounciation up today "on the fly". I was crushing a plastic bottle when someone asked me what I was doing. I told him, "I am being eco-nomic. The bottle will take lees room in the recycling truck."

  • I created this word sometime in the 1980s. It is the name of what happens when two people are walking towards one another from opposite directions, meet, and then each steps sideways to allow the other to pass. Frequently, each one steps in the same direction several times, until by chance, they step in opposite directions, thus clearing the path. Honestly, there are no great sentences in which to use this word- it just describes something that happens. But, one might say, "I just saw the funniest chance dance as I was walking down the street. It took them three minutes of chance dancing until they were able to go on their way."

  • Macronym: An acronym composed of acronyms. I invented this word around 1990 in reposnse to the use of the acronym, "PISB". PISB was used in an online bulletin board by contributors when referring to the bulletin board. For example, "Did you read that post that Ira left on PISB last night?" The name of the board was PACS IBM SIG BBS, or PISB for short. As you can see, the "words" that make up the acronym are themselve acronyms. They stand for Philadelphia Area Computer Society, International Business Machine Special Interest Group Bulletin Board System. I thought that "macronym" was especially appropriate as it described a term (PISB) used by computer enthusiasts.
