  • This morning, I found a list on wordnik of these beastly adjectives. That led me to sign up with wordnik. A couple of hours later, I went to wordnik.com to find the list and I couldn't. Then I went back to Google and it did not give me the link I used this morning. Then I came up with the list in wordnik (by sionnach but don't find the definitions that I found this morning.

Is this site user-difficult or am I missing something?

  • Just found wordnik when looking for animal-like adjectives. I love words, so I signed up.

How come caprine and hircine both mean goat-like?

  • Re the word of the day, henotheism having a Scrabble score of 18. To actually use this word in a Scrabble game, one would most probably put down seven letters and attach them to the word hen, not, or the - already on the board. That would make the score at least 68. I'm now going to check if you can possibly put doen seven letters without at least one of them on a bonus square.

Just having fun and getting into my wordnik membership.

    Well done site. Thank you.

  • Because Latin has two words for goat. And why that? Well most long-lived languages have a voracious appetite for vocabulary. In the case of Latin it's likely that the multiple goat words were acquired from the languages of peoples who were conquered or assimilated by the Roman empire.
