  • Barmicide: Readers may find "barmicide" in A Tale of Two Cities, where the writer/narrator has a character enter a room and see a table set as for a barmicide feast. The Barmicides, if memory serves correctly, were an ancient tribe whose practices included the peculiar one set forth above. Charles Dickens knew many recondite facts. I was curious whether I'd find a reference from web sources.
