  • I created this word sometime in the 1980s. It is the name of what happens when two people are walking towards one another from opposite directions, meet, and then each steps sideways to allow the other to pass. Frequently, each one steps in the same direction several times, until by chance, they step in opposite directions, thus clearing the path. Honestly, there are no great sentences in which to use this word- it just describes something that happens. But, one might say, "I just saw the funniest chance dance as I was walking down the street. It took them three minutes of chance dancing until they were able to go on their way."
