Why does this conjure up images of Christopher Plummer with a guitar, as Julie Andrews sews away on the drapery, Scarlett O' Hara style, in the background, and Gregory Peck wrestles his prosthesis to the ground while Scout is rescued by Boo Radley somewhere in the middle distance, even as the twister scoops up Judy to the land that time forgot, where the dinosaurs make a meal out of that Jeff Goldblum who turns into a fly right before fencing mistress Geena Davis's horrified eyes. But not before infecting the comet that is headed earth's way with a deadly virus, like Kirk Douglas infecting the slaves with the virus of freedom before receiving the tablets from Charlton Heston behind the burning bush, because of his inability to say "diaper rash" on the silver screen.

Here in Madrid, everyone is muy orgulloso that Penelope Cruz won the Oscar. It was the first thing I learned when I showed up for class this morning, even before I took the placement test.
