  • Italian soccer lore - a Spanish phrase that should not be repeated in polite company. At the 1990 World Cup, host nation Italy was knocked out in the semi-finals by a penalty scored by Diego Maradona's team, Argentina. During the Argentinian national anthem played before the final, Italian fans in the stadium booed loudly. As the camera passed across Maradona's face, he pronounced this phrase clearly enough for all (Spanish-speaking) tv viewers to distinguish.
