Many of the houses are built with interstices in the walls for the purpose of drying the grapes and converting them into kishmish (raisins) which appear to be one of the staple articles of food in Afghanistan ....
In the light of the shop I looked at the handful of nuts and kishmish raisins I was about to put in my mouth.
