(n): 1. a bell formerly used in "night-fowling" to arouse birds from their sleep by its tinkling, and to bedazzle them by a flame (Scots, provincial English dialect-low), and then snare or otherwise despatch them - lowbelling, bird-batting. 2. a small bell, such as a sheep's bell.
