Proxemics is the branch (okay, twig) of linguistics that has to do with the distances between people when they speak and how those distances affect the discourse. Is that what you had in mind for proximital distances?

Actually, I kind of like this word...
No, bilby, it had to do with a digital activity we're building that involves an animated map. But the idea of proxemics sounds whacked out and interesting. I hate when someone invades my kinisphere. One time I backed away and the guy just followed and invaded my space again.
