  • A person who enjoys being single and so prefers to wait for the right person to come along rather than dating indiscriminately. (WordSpy)

  • For the most part I really enjoy the words on Paul McFedries's site, and those in his book. But occasionally, there will be a real clunker. This strikes me as being one of the clunkers. An awkward, unnatural portmanteau which one has difficulty imagining being employed in any realistic situation.

Seriously, would anyone use this word to describe their own situation? ("I'm a quirkyalone"). Hard to imagine. It's no less clunky when applied to someone else.

Not a word for the ages. One which will be consigned to oblivion before the end of the decade, IMO.
