Capixaba is a Brasilian word that refers to a person or thing from the state of Espirito Santo. The "x" is pronounced like an English "sh" and the emphasized syllable is "xa" as in capiSHAba. BTW, Brasilians spell their country and its references with an "s" not a "z".

Espirito Santo is a state about the size of Massachusetts that is about 500 kilometers or 300 miles up the coast from Rio de Janeiro. Capixaba is both feminine and masculine and capixabas is the plural.
