  • Two jars of the gold-upon-blue ware, once supposed to have been produced by Moorish potters at Calata-Girone, afford Dr. Barber the occasion definitely to expunge the same from the list of stanniferously enamelled earthenwares: "the lead glaze has either been applied directly over the blue-coloured body or on a thin shell of slip," in the specimens he has examined.
