Older people used to use sunbeamer to describe an item of cutlery that was put out for dinner, not used, and hence could be put back in the drawer without being washed.
"I'll just put away the sunbeamers and have a cup of tea before we do the dishes, lad," is the sort of thing my grandmother often said to me.
