The name means "Three Volcanoes" in archaic Latin, according to my grandfather who was born in Calabria in 1865.The name 'Stromboli", according to my grandfather, is a similar name derived from archaic Latin, meaning "Strom"=Isle, "boli""=volcanic bowls or simply "volcanoes.They said that Stromboli is old latin meaning "Isle of Volcanoes". Thus Trimboli is broken down as "Trim"=Three, "Bol"=Volcanic Bowl, and the "i" ending in latin signifies a plural. Thus "Trim Boli" translates Three Volcanoes. My grandfather used to joke that there must have been some hot-heads in the family. (:=)
