In the Yup'ik language, a "women's throwing party" used to celebrate a special occasion such as a child's first hunt, a successful berry season, or finding the first geese eggs in the spring. The hostess collects small gifts and treats and throws them in the air for other village women to catch. Pronounced oo-gee-gook.
