  • winslet, n. any flat rectangle used as a buffer between a hot laptop and your lap, typically a glossy magazine. The original winslet was a copy of Harpers Bazaar with a picture of Kate Winslet on the cover, but any magazine of suitable size and thickness will do. May also be used for TV dinners.
