  • 'In the locality of Kyoshk he recorded samples of the Zargarī language, which, according to the natives, contain many Greek words, those same natives allegedly being the descendants of Alexander the Great. According to Sadeqe Kīy?, "Zargarī is the most widely known and most universal of the secret languages in Iran". The popularity and widespread applcation of this cryptic language was the reason why nearly all secret languages in Iran are called Zargarī. The Tajiks do not currently use this term, although zaboni zargarī has been recorded to denote a provisional language of the goldsmiths.'
