- n. A physically attractive man who lacks intelligence; the male equivalent of a bimbo.
This word is a blend of ‘him’ and ‘bimbo.’ ‘Bimbo,’ a variant of the Italian ‘bambino,’ baby, originally meant a ‘stupid, inconsequential man, contemptible person.’ By 1920 the sense of ‘bimbo’ as ‘floozie’ developed.
“Beckham's sons prove that having a himbo for a daddy can be just as mortifying as having a supposed bimbo for a mummy.”
“Other new words that have become sufficiently common to make the dictionary include 'mouse potato'--an intensive computer user--'unibrow'--eyebrows that seem to join together and 'himbo'--an attractive but vacuous man.”
“Sweetly awkward without being obnoxious, and decent looking without being a Hollywood himbo, he's a guy you want to root for, especially since his character delivers the best onscreen incentives for studying physics you've ever seen.”
