oroboros I've just watched yet another extensive television program (regurgitation?) coverage of the horrendous day, complete, of course, with the visual footage. That is completely understandable. But consider this: It has been said: "Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it." But the mind's perfect purview is exactly that: remembrance. It is impossible for the mind not to remember (barring physical dysfunction). The media is an organic outgrowth and enhancement of this enforced reality. One can ask: "What does it accomplish?" What does it accomplish indeed. If men had no memory, there would be no civilization. If men had no memory there would be no war.
Ask yourself: Is war programmed into the human neurochemistry? If so, for whose benefit? To what end? If you believe otherwise, have you ever had an aggressive reaction to another's behavior (if not overtly physical, or even oral, then in the privacy of your own head?)
Also consider this: you have no choice not to remember. So, willy nilly, you're in for the fun! Except for this: to know it is to have the possibility of escape. Sep 15, 2007
