- n. Any of six immortal beings created by Ahura Mazda, often equated to archangels, or Ahura Mazda himself (making seven).
In Zoroastrian cosmology, after Ahura Mazda created the Universe he assigned six holy immortals Amesha Spenta as protectors of the world:
Ewald and others with the later doctrine of seven chief angels,  parallel to and influenced by the Ameshaspentas (Amesha Spenta), or seven great spirits of the Persian mythology, but the connexion is doubtful.
Considered an Amesha Spenta, the relation between Ahura Mazda and Spenta Mainyu remains subtle and elusive, in the Avesta as well as the Gathas.
 Each Daeva fights a particular Amesha Spenta.
Each Amesha Spenta has an archenemy, one of the Daevas.
