Our new CI was out on foot patrol on nights (well, until about 2am, anyway) not only at Xmas but on Black-Eye Friday (oops, sorry, we have to call it Festive Friday now!) the weekend before, but this is the first time I have seen anyone of that rank outside the Police Station for about 15 years.
