The first two prospects to be drilled are Mafraq South, with mean prospective resources of 255 million barrels of oil equivalent MMBOE, and the Al Ghubar North with mean prospective resources of 254 MMBOE.

Al Ghubar North AGN-A: This structure is a northeast-southwest trending fault block with stacked reservoir targets in the Barik, Miqrat and Amin Formations.

The rig will now move approximately 30 miles west to test the Al Ghubar North structure AGN-A which has the same stacked reservoir targets in the Barik, Miqrat and Amin formations in a different trap style to Mafraq South.

I'm also told that our majority-Government-owned giant oil company Petroleum Development Oman, aka PDO, discovered a really big field called Al Ghubar South last year, although it won't be officially announced 'till HM gives the OK according to my MOG friends who confirmed the leak.
