- A narrow gorge of the Danube River on the border of Serbia and Romania, in the gap between the Carpathian and Balkan mountains. Originally hazardous to navigation, the gorge was made passable by a ship canal (1896) and was eventually flooded by a hydroelectric dam (1972).

I wonder when Israeligirl will give a balanced report and include the fact that Israel has killed, on average, ten times as many innocent Palestinian children as Palestinians have killed Israeli children.
On a side note, I would love to see a "conversation" between Hyperbola and Israeligirl.
