- n. In Greek myth, the ruler of heaven and earth before Zeus, a son of Ouranos (Uranus, Heaven) and Ge (Earth), and father by Rhea of Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. He was driven by his sons from the throne, Zeus being put in his stead. He was identified by the Romans with Saturn.
