- n. A genus of dicotyledonous plants of the order Malvaceæ and the tribe Malveæ, known by its diœcious flowers. It consists of a single species, N. dioica, the glade-mallow, a tall perennial with maple-like leaves and abundant small white flowers, found, though rare, in limestone valleys in the eastern and central United States.
