- Aërial; of or belonging to the air; produced or existing in the atmosphere.
- n. A member of a reforming sect of the fourth century, so called, from their leader Aërius, a presbyter of Sebastia in Pontus, who separated from the church about a. d. 360. They maintained that a presbyter or elder does not differ from a bishop in authority, repudiated prayers for the dead, and rejected church fasts.
